Museo dell'Alto Molise

Near an 18th-century fountain, the Alto Molise Museum in San Pietro Avellana, the town of truffles, invites you on a journey through history.

The civic area of customs, costumes, and trades will guide you through the local culture of the 20th century with perfectly reconstructed environments of daily life, including a schoolroom, a sartorial space with wedding dresses, period costumes from the 1600s to date, ancient crafts, and tools used during the Transhumance.

In the archaeological section, you will immerse yourself in the world of the Samnites, among objects and jewelry, and the reconstruction of the tomb of the warrior prince from the archaic necropolis of Piana Fusaro (7th-6th century BC).

The multimedia section Autunno '43 will introduce you to the period of the Liberation of Italy and the events of the destruction and reconstruction of the town on the Gustav Line during World War 2.
