MaB UNESCO Biosphere Reserve “Collemeluccio - Montedimezzo”

The MaB UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Alto Molise, the 1st of 20 Italian Reserves since 1977, invites you to go hiking through enchanting trails in a precious oasis of biodiversity.

The AIGAE Guides will lead you through about 117 km of trails of varying levels and difficulty, amid beech forests, oaks, firs, downy oaks, willows, and cottonwoods, and the rare white fir forest, that encompasses an area of about 25,000 hectares, from 450 to 1730 meters above sea level, over natural pastures and meadows, hills and small river-lake plateaus.

The MAB Reserve covers an area of seven municipalities in Alto Molise that includes picnic areas and the two state Nature Reserves of Collemeluccio and Montedimezzo, with free-entry visitors centres, managed by the Carabinieri Biodiversity Department of Isernia.
