The Giardino of the Flora Appenninica, or the Garden of the Apennine Flora, is one of Italy’s highest natural gardens.
A realm of biodiversity, it stands at 1525 meters above sea level.
Walking along the footpaths, you will be guided among some 500 plant species of the mountain flora of the central-southern Apennines, discovering curiosities about endemic and rare plants growing in the Garden’s 10 hectares, of which 5 are left untended, to grow wild, to be studied in their natural evolution as related to climate change, too.
You will wander through the typical environments of the Alto Molisana mountains, such as the beech forest, the fir tree, the pond, rocky terrain, and its highland plains.
Among the thematic areas, you will appreciate native horticultural varieties and taste wild berries.
And a Path of the Senses is dedicated to the visually impaired.
Don’t miss the creative workshops and events for young and old people.
